A Student Guide to Uppsala from the First Glocal Cohort that Went to Uppsala University

What's new on Instagram

🧑‍🏫 Meat from plants – what seems impossible to many is made true by the Swiss foodtech start-up Planted with its plant-based meat analogues. As part of the course “Companies in Emerging Sectors” at Universitat de Barcelona, four students of GLOCAL Cohort V prepared a case study on the Swiss company Planted, after they had already dealt with the emerging industry of plant-based meat alternatives in a first paper. The students had the chance to enrich their research by interviewing the founders of the promising start-up, thus gaining first-hand insights into the dynamic innovative environment. GLOCAL students from tracks E, F and G go to the lovely city of Uppsala, where they attend classes at the Uppsala University in the second semester. The city became well-known among them due to the charming libraries and cafés. Here, we share some highlights of the cultural life in Uppsala: 🌍 Varieties of Capitalism is one of three core courses offered at the University of Glasgow during GLOCAL students’ first semester. The seminar emphasises the role of actors and institutions in economic development and compares regional varieties in models of capitalism. It’s Friday! 🎊 What about watching a movie tonight? 📚 Students recovered the energy to start the new ‘Sustainability of Financial Markets in the Modern Era’ course at Uppsala University. ‘What is GLOCAL?’ part III is out 👏🏽 Being a GLOCAL means having the opportunity of immerse yourself in the local’s culture. Maya Angelou once said, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”. 🌻 ‘What is GLOCAL?’ part II is out 👏🏽
