INTRODUCING UMAMA

Hi everyone! I’m Umama Malik from Pakistan, and I have been interested in how we can create an impact that is sustainable and long-lasting in the world. Before GLOCAL, I chose to pursue my Bachelors in Business Administration to understand the principles of management to run organizations that become a force of change. During my Bachelors, I took part in curricular and extra-curricular activities to gain a well-rounded experience. I attended summer school at the National University of Singapore and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, USA. I also represented Pakistan at G(irls)20, Summit in Japan to give policy recommendations to G20 leaders in 2019 to empower and support women. I also got a chance to organize TEDx and I worked with organizations like UN Women and British Council.

The multi-disciplinary nature of the GLOCAL program caught my attention and I was sure that this program will prepare me for the future where I want to facilitate organizations in creating a sustainable impact. The interesting mix of economics, business and entrepreneurship, and industrial dynamics and sustainability (Glasgow, Barcelona, and Kyoto), resonates with my dreams of creating and inspiring positive change. I am really looking forward to learning a lot from my fellow GLOCALs and from studying in three incredible cities around the world!
