INTRODUCING MARIANA

Hello there! I am Mariana from Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and I am deeply interested to understand the relationship between culture and economy. I have always been involved with culture and arts. However, I also wanted to better comprehend the complexities of the world in order to be able to change it, and, to pursue this goal, it seemed crucial to deeply understand about economics. During my bachelor in Economic Science at The Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) I got more involved with feminist theory, urban studies, political economy and social and solidarity economics, topics which in many ways dialogue with who I am now. While studying I also worked in different photo and cinema festivals, as well with contemporary dance and performance (other topics of interest of my life). After my exchange semester in Belgium, I realized how studying abroad and having intense cultural exchanges was important to give me a global critical perspective. This, together with my desire to pursue an interdisciplinary path was why I applied to GLOCAL ! Now, I’m currently 23 years old and happy to be on pathway E, “Institutional Change & Creative Industries” (Glasgow, Uppsala, Rotterdam).
