Introducing: Salma

IMG-20161120-WA000324. Cairo, Egypt.

I double majored in Political Economy & Marketing Communication for my undergraduate studies, spent some time of my undergrad at SciencesPo Menton, France. For two years after graduation, I worked 6 full-time & part-time jobs – not all at once, of course; history teacher, marketer, project coordinator, business development officer, researcher and fitness instructor.

I’m obsessed with fitness dancing, cooking, creative copywriting, developmental economics, political economy theory, cats and anything green.

These two quotes have been always a guidance to my life.

“The greatest obstacle to being heroic is the doubt whether one may not be going to prove one’s self a fool; the truest heroism is, to resist the doubt; and the profoundest wisdom, to know when it ought to be resisted, and when to be obeyed.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Blithedale Romance

“If you understand an obsession, then you know you won’t change my mind” – Robert Angier, The Prestige

Why GLOCAL?

Egyptians need someone to help them, so do many people around the world. I want to have enough knowledge so I can alleviate life burdens for as many people as I can. GLOCAL is a tailored program to my interests, undergrad studies, and work background. It’s a brilliant mix of creativity & entrepreneurship, political economy, social science & development. GLOCAL is a program where I can combine all what I’m good at so I can come up with an idea to help others have better lives.

My expectations?

I want to change the world, for at least the few people I will be able to help. I need to know how other people tried to make the world a better place, how they succeeded/failed, and why.
